Puppy Mills and lots of Bill$

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014

Have you ever given thought to the profiteering at the expense of dogs’ suffering from the horrific conditions in the puppy mill industry?

Puppy mills are alive and well in Indiana thanks to pet store retailers that drive this pathetic industry.

Mark your calendars and lend your support by taking a stand against puppy mills. Join the chorus on the following dates and locations. Whether you can come for 1.5 mins or 1.5 hours, your presence will make a statement that is loud and clear.

Can’t stop? Honk when you pass.

Buying pet supplies? Patronize those retailers that support the local rescue organizations.

Refreshing demonstration on Puppy Mills & Pet Stores

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Puppy Mill protest December 2007Organized by ? – not sure – petshoppuppies.org ? About 50 people showed up in the cold and snow to protest Uncle Bills at 141st and highway 37 in Fishers. Bunches and bunches of passerby’s honked and waved in support. I hope that we’re on our way to educating those folks who think that you don’t buy puppies from pet stores in big cities – but don’t buy them here either! We’re our own worst enemies when it comes to supporting these puppy farms.

Don’t breed or buy while adoptable puppies, kittens, dogs and cats die. 15,000 every year in our city. In our two shelters – Animal Care and Control and the “Humane” Society of Indianapolis!

Rabbit Adoptions at PetSmart

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Move to Act learned today of baby rabbit adoption being test marketed at PetSmart stores. Amy Deitchley of the Indiana House Rabbit Society(http://www.indianahrs.org) objects strongly to the sale of these milled rabbits which will likely later end up in local shelters. Her group is a rabbit rescue that works with local shelters to find new homes for surrendered rabbits. IHRS currently works with Petco stores locally to offer their adoptable rabbits. Move to Act encourages PetSmart management to review their rabbit adoption program and obtain rescue rabbits from IHRS.

Illinois Cats at Westside PetSmart

Friday, June 29th, 2007

The PetSmart store at 86th and Zionsville Rd continues to import cats for adoption from a Paris, Illinois group known as D&R Rescue. This in the face of our own stunning local pet overpopulation problem. Why? Local animal advocate Susan Hobbs has detailed her efforts to reverse this irrational process both with the store manager and with PetSmart corporate headquarters-all to no avail. Move to Act is disappointed at this situation and PetSmart’s lack of cooperation. Add your voice to oppose PetSmart’s position by emailing Julie Schmaltz at: JSchmaltz@SSG.PetSmart.com.
